In Linux it was easy to mount a network drive using sftp. However, Windows does not provide an easy method. ExpanDrive, formally known as SftpDrive, allows you to map a remote network drive using the secure file transfer protocal.
ExpanDrive gives you perfectly transparent access to open, edit, and save files with your favorite programs, even when those files are on a server half a world away. Transparent means that you won’t even notice you’re operating on remote file server—it will act like it’s an USB drive you plugged directly into your own computer.
ExpanDrive seamlessly integrates with Windows explorer. This is a must have Windows application for anyone who manages files on remote servers.

WebDrive (www.webdrive.com) has provided the ability to mount an SFTP drive on Windows for about 6 years now.
It also supports the ability to mount an FTP, FTPS, WebDAV, and Amazon S3 server as a drive letter.

Looks like a very useful piece of software for Windows. In Linux you can also mount using sshfs if you have SSH access. Do you really have 11TB of space on that network drive?

@Michael, webdrive does look like an impressive piece of software, thanks for letting me know there is an alternative. If I ever have the need or opportunity to try it out, I will be sure to write about my experience.
@Jordan, Yes there is 11TB of space on that network drive, but its shared by a few hundred people.
